"I spent several days walking up and down the beaches of northern Jutland in February 2018. I aimed to create a melancholic and otherworldly landscape where it is possible to immerse and perish in surrealist shapes and patterns. I photographed with an analog camera and used that as a possibility to create an image so abstract that I could not remember or recognize the original subject. It is almost magical for me to decide - and manipulate the medium to such an extent that I create my own interpretation of the landscape. This picture was taken on Lønstrup beach on the North Sea. I walked alone along the beach towards Rubjerg Knude Fyr and photographed the abstractions of nature distorted by the harsh and cold weather. In the picture, the mud from the coastal erosion is stiffened in the frost and partially covered by a fine layer of snow. The hardly recognizable motif creates the illusion of either being incredibly far away or very close." – Cecilie Neumann
